Healing is rarely found on the path of least resistance. It is found in the
conscious, in the process of confronting the self. With Stepping Stones Won’t Break
My Bones, Sikdar constructs a quiet dialogue between the weight of the body and
the ground supporting us.
The exhibition floor is laid with fabricated pebbles and fragmented eggshells,
encouraging visitors to traverse the space. With each footstep, it becomes a
conversation with the self, delving into fear, pressure, resilience, and healing. This
experience reinterprets the metaphor "walking on eggshells," shifting it from a
notion of fear into an embrace of challenges for personal growth.
A focal point on the wall features a cracked egg, its yolk sewn intimately with
hair as an act of repair. To fully engage with this space, one must walk intentionally
amidst the pebbles and eggshells, finding comfort in the discomfort, gradually
rebuilding resilience with each step along the ongoing path of healing.
Sikdar 的《Stepping Stones Won’t Break My Bones》以身軀的重量與承托我們
